About this service

SoftWave® Tissue Regeneration

SoftWave® Tissue Regeneration also known as shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. FAQs

Frequently asked questions

SoftWave® therapy is a non-invasive form of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT). It uses acoustic pressure waves applied from outside the body to a targeted area. The goal is to support the body’s natural healing response and help address musculoskeletal pain and impaired function. SoftWave® does not involve surgery, injections, or incisions.
After an examination, SoftWave® may be considered for certain musculoskeletal concerns, including chronic tendon or soft-tissue pain, plantar fasciitis, shoulder conditions, rotator-cuff-related pain, some forms of joint pain, and selected post-injury or post-surgical concerns. Whether it is appropriate depends on the diagnosis, location, severity, health history, and goals of care. Your provider will explain whether it is a reasonable option for your specific condition.
The most accurate terminology is that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorizes specific medical devices for specific intended uses. It does not grant a blanket approval that guarantees any therapy will treat every condition or work for every patient. HCW uses a SoftWave® device as part of a provider-directed care plan; your provider can discuss the device, its intended use, and whether treatment is appropriate for your situation.

Most patients describe a tapping, pulsing, or deep-pressure sensation. Some areas can feel more sensitive than others, particularly where there is less soft tissue and/or unhealthy tissue. Your provider begins at a comfortable level and adjusts the energy based on your tolerance while still targeting the area of concern. You should always let the provider know if the sensation is more than you can comfortably tolerate.

Every treatment plan is individualized. For many patients, HCW may recommend a series of eight sessions for one treatment area, but the number and timing of visits depend on your diagnosis, response to care, and provider recommendation. Some patients notice change early, while others improve gradually over a series of visits. Results vary, and no outcome can be guaranteed.
SoftWave® is non-invasive, and many people return to regular daily activities after their visit, subject to their provider’s instructions. Temporary soreness, tenderness, redness, or bruising can occur in the treated area and typically resolves within several days. Your provider will give you individualized aftercare instructions, including guidance about activity and medications.

Safety starts with a provider screening. Please tell us before treatment if you have a cardiac pacemaker or other electronic implant, are pregnant or may be pregnant, have active cancer or tumors, have recently received a cortisone injection, have a blood disorder, use blood-thinning medication, have tinnitus or ringing in the ears, or are age 18 or younger. These factors do not replace a clinical evaluation; they mean your provider must review your history and determine whether, where, and how treatment can be performed safely.

A single SoftWave® session is $250. We offer a 25% package discount; for example, an eight-session package for one treatment area is $1,500. HCW offers payment plans and financing, and accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. During your consultation, our team will review the recommended treatment plan and payment options with you.

“Shockwave® therapy” is a broad term, and devices do not all deliver energy in the same way. Some systems use focused shockwaves, which concentrate energy at a small point and specific depth. Others use radial pressure waves, which deliver their strongest pressure closer to the skin’s surface and decrease with depth.

SoftWav®e uses an electrohydraulic shockwave source and a patented parabolic reflector designed to deliver a broad-focused field of acoustic energy rather than concentrating energy at one small focal point. This allows the provider to address a wider treatment area while tailoring treatment to the patient’s comfort and clinical needs.

The right technology and treatment plan depend on your diagnosis, the body area involved, your medical history, and your provider’s assessment. No shockwave device or treatment approach can guarantee a particular result.
